2026 Summer Institutes for Language Teachers
Join the more than 8,100 language educators who have taken a CARLA Summer Institute since the program launched in 1996. In 2026, CARLA will offer six institutes (five synchronous online institutes and one in-person institute), all designed to reflect the center’s commitment to link research and theory with practical applications for the classroom and showcase the following CARLA initiatives: Seals of Biliteracy, Technology-Enhanced Language Education, Social Justice in Language Education, and Secondary Dual Language Immersion Education.
Because of federal funding cuts, this will be the last CARLA Summer Institute Program offered for the foreseeable future. Early registration is advised!
The 2026 CARLA Summer Institutes will be offered in the following formats:
- Online–Synchronous
- In Person on the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis
Summer Institutes will be offered in two time slots: June 16–18, 2026 and June 23–25, 2026.
