CARLA Announces the 2026 Summer Institute Program
Join the more than 8,100 language educators who have taken a CARLA Summer Institute since the program launched in 1996. For its 31st annual program in 2026, CARLA will offer six institutes highlighting CARLA current initiatives, all of which are designed to link research and theory with practical applications for the classroom.
Social Justice in Language Education Resources and Research
The Social Justice in Language Education initiative offers a wide range of resources for teachers including planning templates to help teachers incorporate social justice themes into language classes. Initiative leaders also conduct research on student and teacher learning in social justice-oriented language classrooms; check out their latest article in a special issue of Critical Inquiry in Language Studies.
Practical Program Evaluation Toolkit for Educators
CARLA collaborated with ACTFL to create a toolkit filled with practical materials that educators can use to plan for and implement a language program evaluation. Three sections guide educators through the process of planning, gathering data, and reporting findings. Learn more about the toolkit at a free presentation in January and a workshop in March!
