CARLA is currently carrying out the following initiatives:
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
CARLA supports the professional development of second language teachers through institutes, workshops, and conferences.
- CARLA Summer Institutes – See the 2023 schedule featuring nine online and six in-person options. Register at least five business days before the start of each institute.
- Presentations and Workshops–CARLA offered 15 presentations and 7 workshops this year to over 1,300 language eduators. Check out recordings of past CARLA presentations.
NEW AT CARLA
Literacies in Language Education
The recently published book Literacies in Language Education: A Guide for Teachers and Teacher Educators defines multiliteracies pedagogy, its benefits, and how to create curricula and instructional materials grounded in it. A new companion website provides free access to many of the resources referenced in the book.
