Project Background

Participants in the videos:

Bill Johnston currently teaches in the Department of Comparative Literature at Indiana University. His doctorate is in second language acquisition from the University of Hawaii and he is an award-winning translator from Polish. He has presented and published extensively on the moral dimension of teaching and language teacher education. 
Hangtae Cho directs the Korean program at the University of Minnesota, and holds a Ph.D. in phonology.
Louis Janus has taught Norwegian at the University of Minnesota and St. Olaf College. He is currently the coordinator of the Less Commonly Taught Languages project at CARLA, at the University of Minnesota.
Fatima Lemtouni teaches Arabic at Sanford Middle School in Minneapolis, and brings a younger student audience to the discussions. She grew up in Morocco and has taught Arabic for more than six years in Minnesota.
Kathleen Rider is currently the Coordinator for second year Italian at the University of Minnesota. She has taught Italian for more than fourteen years.
