Registration Process for Graduate-Level Credit for Non-UMN Participants
The instructions below are targeted at non-UMN participants who are already registered through CARLA and wish to take their institute for graduate-level credit for an additional cost (tuition and fees). Those who have not yet registered through CARLA can find information on the registration page. UMN students can learn more about the credit registration process.
Steps to register for graduate-level credit:

Download the non-degree-seeking graduate credit registration form (PDF) linked to the name of your institute:
- Assessing Language Learners’ Communication Skills via Authentic Communicative Performance Tasks – 2 credits
- Creativity in the Language Classroom – 2 credits
- Content-Based Language Instruction – 2 credits
- Critical Approaches to Heritage Language Education – 2 credits
- Culture as the Core in the Second Language Classroom – 2 credits
- Secondary Dual Language and Immersion: Achieving the Promise of Continuation Programs – 2 credits
- Teaching Language Through the Lens of Social Justice – 2 credits
- Transforming the Teaching of Language Online (TTLO) – 3 credits
- Using Target Language Texts to Support Students' Literacies Development – 2 credits
- Using the Web: Engaged Learning for Today's Students – 2 credits
- Fill out the highlighted portions.
- Select your grade option: A/F (graded) or S/N (Satisfactory/Non-Satisfactory) basis.
- Sign and date the form.
- Email the form to Karin Larson at larso205@umn.edu at least two weeks before your institute.
- Once your registration has been processed by the University's Office of the Registrar, you will receive a confirmation email that will include directions on how to:
- set up a University of Minnesota email account; and
- pay the bill for credit tuition/fees.
