Unit Overview:

Students will acquire Spanish anatomical terms and language constructions associated with talking about the health of the human body. They will recognize the different body systems and determine how daily routines and behaviors affect the functioning of these systems. Ultimately, they will decide how to alter their own behaviors as well as promote healthy lifestyles for others.

Context:

This unit can be used after students have already had exposure to the following basic body parts terms, listed adjectives and interrogatives (first year Spanish); as well as exposure to the academic verbs, reflexive verbs and terms related to ones daily routine and personal hygiene (second year Spanish). This unit on body systems will not only reinforce these terms within the context of maintaining good health habits, but it will also expose students to additional anatomical vocabulary, commands and other health terms necessary for communication on health at the advanced level.
