Research and Practice in Immersion Education: Looking Back and Looking Ahead

October 19 - 21, 1995
Minneapolis, Minnesota

This conference focused on four key themes in immersion education:

  • policy and planning
  • immersion pedagogy
  • culture and diversity
  • assessment with a conference session devoted to each theme.

The format for each session was the same: a plenary talk, followed by a series of discussion groups. Each discussion group began with a brief presentation by the discussion leaders on the state of the art of a given aspect of the field, during which they raised issues for further discussion.

Conference participants included researchers, school administrators, immersion teachers, and parents.
