Situation 2: Dialogue 2

学生：あ、失礼します。  A, shitsurei shimasu.  ‘Excuse me.’

先生：どうぞ。  Douzo.  ‘Come in.’

学生：先生、この間借りた本、お返ししに来ました。  Sensei kono aida karita hon, okaeshi shini kimashita.  ‘Sensei, I’ve come to return the book I borrowed the other day.’

先生：あ、そう、どうだった？  A, sou, dou data?  ‘Oh, is that right?  How was it?’

学生：とても面白くてためになりました。ありがとうございました。  Totemo omoshirokute tameni narimashita.  ‘It was really interesting and instructive.  Thank you very much.’

先生：あ、ほんとに。よかったね、それは。  A, hontoni.  Yokattane, sorewa.  ‘Oh, really.  That’s good.’
