Sample Dialogue 1

The parts in red are the responses to compliments you’ve been asked to write down.

A: まさお君、英語お上手ですね。  Masao-kun, eigo ojouzu desune.  ‘Masao-kun, your English is very good.’

B: いえいえ、まだ勉強中なんですよ。  Ieie, mada benkyouchuu nandesuyo.  ‘Oh, no, I’m still studying it.’

A: いや、ほんとにびっくりしました。  Iya, hontoni bikkuri shimashita.   ‘I was really surprised.’

B: もうアメリカに行って4年になりますから。Mou amerikani itte yonenni narimasu kara.  ‘I’ve been in the U.S. for four years.’
