Unit Overview:

*Students will be able to apply the temperature conversion formula to convert from Farenheit to Celsius scales to be able to compare and contrast the different temperature readings in Indiana, Puerto Rico and Spain.

* Students will practice writing and saying the numbers from 10,000 to 100,000 by 10 thousands. 

* Students will understand how the climatic temperature variations effect sports practiced in the cultures of the US, Puerto Rico and Spain. 

Context:

Students have an understanding of number placement. 

Students know the order of operations for Math. 

Students know the months and seasons of the year and how to express weather conditions using present tense of ""hacer" and "estar."

Internet Access to websites that show weather conditions for U.S. Puerto Rico and Spain.  Websites that have newspaper  sportspages for each of the above listed locales.  Hard Copies of weather maps for the U.S., Puerto Rico and Spain with weather symbols.  Vocabulary word walls and poster showing the Formula for Temperature conversion from Celsius to Farenheit.
