Unit Timeframe:

The unit is set up as a 10-day lesson plan, with activities designed for class periods of approximately 50 minutes.

Unit Overview:

Students will familiarize themselves with the wide range of cultural offerings and leisure time opportunities in Berlin. The class will be taking a week-long virtual trip to Berlin. There will be individual, group, and whole-class responsibilities for this project. The following products will be created:

· a map of Berlin with important sights, leisure activities, museums, and hotels
· a time line of important events in the history of Berlin
· short written descriptions in Germa n of activities and hotels
· a packing list in German
· a postcard written to a former German exchange student
· a newspaper article written in English for the school newspaper
· a schedule (in German) of all activities during the trip

Most of the projects also function quite well as stand-alone mini-units, so teachers can choose to do all of them, or only certain ones. (Chart of Projects, Objectives and Language Modes)
