The unit is set up as a 10-day lesson plan, with activities designed for class periods of approximately 50 minutes.
Students will familiarize themselves with the wide range of cultural offerings and leisure time opportunities in Berlin. The class will be taking a week-long virtual trip to Berlin. There will be individual, group, and whole-class responsibilities for this project. The following products will be created:
· a map of Berlin with important sights, leisure activities, museums, and hotels
· a time line of important events in the history of Berlin
· short written descriptions in Germa n of activities and hotels
· a packing list in German
· a postcard written to a former German exchange student
· a newspaper article written in English for the school newspaper
· a schedule (in German) of all activities during the tripMost of the projects also function quite well as stand-alone mini-units, so teachers can choose to do all of them, or only certain ones. (Chart of Projects, Objectives and Language Modes)
