Teaching a grammar point to others

There’s an adage that the best way to learn something is to try teaching it to someone else.  As you attempt to teach it, you usually get in touch with just how well you actually know the material yourself and whether there are any gaps in your knowledge.

Naomi says, “One of the things that I’ve discovered in retrospect is that teaching (or having to explain why I’m using a certain verb form or sentence structure to somebody else or to a class) has probably been the most effective way for me to learn or solidify my Spanish.”

And the good news is that you don’t  have to be a nonnative teacher of Spanish like Naomi in order for this strategy to help you.
