2021 Summer Institutes for Language Teachers
The CARLA summer institutes listed below are primarily targeted at elementary through postsecondary foreign/world language educators and language teacher educators. In some cases, the institutes are also appropriate for ESL or EFL teachers. Most of the institutes are not appropriate for the special needs of immersion educators, nor are they suitable for teachers of very young children. All of the CARLA Summer Institutes will be taught online in Summer 2021 in either an asynchronous or synchronous format.
Definitions:
- Asynchronous institutes are completed on your own time with preset deadlines, but many also include some synchronous sessions. Registrants should check the full descriptions for the dates/times of any synchronous sessions to ensure their ability to fully participate?
- Synchronous institutes meet live, in real time in Zoom (or similar video conferencing program). Although synchronous institutes will also include time to work independently, registrants must be available to participate for each entire day during the institute.
