2021 Summer Institutes for Language Teachers

The CARLA summer institutes listed below are primarily targeted at elementary through postsecondary foreign/world language educators and language teacher educators. In some cases, the institutes are also appropriate for ESL or EFL teachers. Most of the institutes are not appropriate for the special needs of immersion educators, nor are they suitable for teachers of very young children. Click the title for detailed information about each institute; refer to the bottom of each page for more information about the target audience.

Definitions:

  • Asynchronous sessions are completed on your own time with preset deadlines, but most will also include some synchronous sessions as well. Make sure to check the dates/times of any synchronous sessions to ensure your ability to fully participate.
  • Synchronous sessions meet live, in real time in Zoom (or similar video conferencing program). While synchronous institutes will also include time to work independently, registrants must be available to participate for each entire day during the institute.
