Unit Timeframe:

Approximately fifteen to twenty class periods of 40 minutes each for individual work, which is largely dependent on student Internet familiarity, Internet connection speed, and the age and ability of students.

Unit Overview:

This unit is a modified Webquest based in the website http://www.angelfire.com/trek/gargie. This website brings the students, working alone or in pairs, through the preparation for, travel during, and sightseeing of a trip to Paris, entirely in French. It features the tour guide/companion traveler "Gargie," a small stuffed gargoyle.

Context:

The unit is intended as an introduction to Paris for students who have never studied the city, as well as an introduction to the capabilities of the Internet in travel. It is a creative, interactive way for students to get to know Paris at their own speed so as to develop a sense of discovery and exploration.
