Unit Overview:

Introduces students to variables and expressions. Students will explore real number operations. Students will learn how to write and evaluate expressions with unknown variables. Students will use properties to simplfy expressions.

Context:

This sets the stage for the remainder of Algebra 1. This sets up their knowledge of basic math volcabulary. This is the beginning chapter of the curriculumn. The students should have previously had pre-algebra.This means they should have previous knowledge about the words "add, subtract, multiply, divide" and all the alternative words that mean the 4 operations.
