One 45-minute class period.
Pre-task:
The teacher will familiarize the students with the purpose and expected learning outcomes for this unit. Students should be given the opportunity to offer suggestions or comments and to ask questions.Task:
The students will learn the names and locations of all 13 countries in South America.The teacher starts the lesson by telling the students that she/he has a trick or strategy to remember the names of the countries in South America and to locate them correctly on a map.

Informal assessment occurs throughout most of the activities mentioned in the attachment. At the end of the first class period, each student will be asked to fill in the names of the countries on a map of South America. They will check and correct their own papers.
