Virtual Audio-Video Archive

The VAVA is a collection of royalty-free audio and video files for teachers to use in their own creative exercises. We have also developed a small number of sample exercises that utilize material from the VAVA. Currently we offer exercises in Polish and Norwegian.

The LCTL Project encourages teachers of all LCTLs to cooperate in developing new VAVA exercises using audio or video materials. Individual exercises might be very simple listening practice, or they might be more complex, integrating sounds, video clips into reading, writing, speaking and listening activities for students.

The VAVA currently contains audio for the following languages:

Organization of the VAVA

Audio and video files are grouped by language and are organized into a grid containing:

Audio Player Bar

play button

To listen to the clip, click the play button on the black audio player bar.

To download the file, right-click (Win) or control-click (Mac) on the blue arrow and choose "Save link as..." to save the MP3 file.

File formats

In our grids, we offer the audio files in MP3 format. Your (newer) web browser should be able to play this, but if not, you may have to download something to help. We recommend the VLC Media Player for Mac or Windows.
