There is no early-bird discount for this initial U of MN student registration rate. This payment covers the cost of materials and extras such as refreshments and, in some institutes, guest presenters.
The University of Minnesota certificate programs that qualify for this discount are:
- Advanced Practices in Second Language Teaching Certificate
- Dual Language and Immersion Education Certificate
Registration for U of MN students requires a two-step process:
- UM students pay an initial non-credit registration cost through CARLA ($150 or $200 for immersion institutes)
- UM Students register for graduate-level credit online through OneStop. The University of Minnesota Registrar will send an electronic bill for the additional cost of tuition and fees, which is based on the student's status at the University.
Note: Special permission is required for credit registration through OneStop. CARLA will clear UM students to register for credit on the Thursday following the initial registration paymentmade to CARLA. If you have problems with credit registration after your initial registration through CARLA, please contact Karin Larson (larso205@umn.edu) with your student ID# and the institute(s) for which you wish to register. Credit registration for summer session begins on April 10, 2012.
Non-UM students and credit registration: Teachers who wish to register for graduate-level credit, but are not University of Minnesota students must pay the regular registration costs in addition to tuition and fees. Non-UM students can register for credit on the first day of class. The University of Minnesota Registrar will send an electronic bill for the additional cost of tuition and fees, which will be due several weeks after registration occurs.
Teachers who decide to apply for one of the UM certificate programs and are accepted before the end of the summer will be eligible for a refund of the difference between the regular registration cost and the discounted UM credit student cost, if they take the course for credit and pay tuition and fees.
