Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems.

GoldWave (http://www.simtel.net/product.download.mirrors.php?id=59197) is a professional digital audio editor. It is one of the most popular audio editors for Windows. Use it to play, edit, mix, restore, and analyze audio, or apply special effects. Supports MP3, OGG, WAV, WMA, and many more formats and can perform batch conversions and processing. Free upgrades.

Sources of texts in many languages

The Paperboy (http://www.thepaperboy.com/) offers 6322 online newspapers in dozens of languages. Newspapers can be searched by country, state, and by names of leading newspapers.

Deutsche Welle (http://www.dw-world.de) offers texts and newscasts on many topics in 30 languages.

The BBC (http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/) features many texts including video on a variety of topics in many languages. Search by language.

Radiotime (http://radiotime.com/Index.aspx) provides links to online foreign language radio stations. Use the "search" option to search by language.

iheard (http://www.iheard.com/language/) provides links to online foreign language radio stations.  Languages are listed on the site.

The MultiLingual Books website provides a list with links to many online foreign language radio (http://www.multilingualbooks.com/online-radio.html) and foreign internet television(http://www.multilingualbooks.com/online-tv.html) and online video sites.

"Interesting Things for ESL Students" (http://ManyThings.org) includes readings, and audio for a variety of levels and topics.
