LCTL Summit

September 20-21, 1996 University of Minnesota

The Less Commonly Taught Languages (LCTL) Project at the University of Minnesota's Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA) sponsored a LCTL Summit Meeting on September 20-21, 1996. The purpose of the summit was to develop an action plan to help teachers and programs teaching LCTLs by building on the common interests and concerns of LCTL teachers in North America.

Prior to the meeting, summit participants were asked to provide information about their specific teaching situation by answering three questions in each of four main areas of concern for LCTL teachers. Summaries of the individual answers were then used as starting points for whole-group and small-group discussions at the summit.
